Red Head Gallery

The Red Head Centre for the Visual Arts, otherwise known as Red Head Gallery, was established in 1990. It is one of Canada’s most enduring artist-run co-operatives. Over that time, hundreds of artists of all disciplines, cultural backgrounds, and career experiences have welcomed the opportunity to exhibit at the Red Head as an alternative to commercial galleries.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

The Red Head Gallery is a not-for-profit co-operative. It is economically sustained through various sources, including members’ dues, art sales, fundraising events, gallery rentals, occasional project grants, and Associate Member fees. This financial independence allows the artists exhibiting at the gallery to enjoy curatorial freedom seldom found elsewhere. Red Head Gallery’s artists create images and objects, manipulate theoretical and physical spaces, participate in and organize events, and seek opportunities to interact with other arts organizations locally, nationally, and internationally, engaging as vast an audience as possible. Member Artists have made the Red Head Gallery a continually evolving success, where significant careers are nurtured and sustained. The Red Head Gallery’s past and present artists maintain a high profile and consistently attract critical attention.
